The Developer Platform and Relations Team at Skype builds the platform, tools, content, and support that enable the software developer community to build applications on the Skype API. Our goal is to enable an ecosystem of software and services that enrich the Skype experience both in the client, in other applications, and on the Web.
Short Job Description
The centre of Skype’s communication with developers around the world is our online portal for developers interested in developing applications for Skype known as the Skype Developer Zone. You will work across the platform and developer relations team to build a professional, structured, and dynamic home for Skype’s developer community and grow it both in scope, features, and reach.
This role requires previous experience in Web site production, project management, design, or development in a professional production environment. Successful candidates must have demonstrated ability to lead and drive across teams, manage needs of a variety of interests, while maintaining a focus on developers and their needs.
Successful candidates should have previous management experience in a Web production environment and will build and manage a team of up to 5 over coming year. A passion for Skype is a must, experience with working with developer relations or technical communications strongly desired.
Main purpose of role
Overall site management of Skype Developer Zone Website and associated team.
Key accountabilities of the role
- Day-to-Day Management of Web site content and editorial, structure and IA, development calendar and team resource allocation.
- Develop a compelling and dynamic site that enables developers to quickly find critical technical information, to learn and refine skill set, and to meet and interact with Skype staff and others in the developer community online.
- Manage innovation and experiment to incorporate Skype technology in Developer Zone to encourage new forms of communication and collaboration.
Pre-requisite Knowledge, skills and experience
- Strong Web project and resource management skills in a high volume Web publishing environment
- Good understanding of current Web development trends and LAMP based content management platforms.
- Proven experience in data and template driven web development using PHP, MySQL, HTML, Javascript, XML, XSL and CSS.
- Basic web design skills including familiarity with Photoshop, Flash or similar design tools.
- Focus on making developers successful and a passion for Skype
Qualifications:
- 3-5 Years experience in similar role
Special requirements (e.g. amount of travel)
- Must be willing to travel once a month
