Project Manager - Mac and Linux

The Project Manager for Mac and Linux will be responsible for overall coordination of various software projects. This role will require a good understanding of the goals for each project, the design issues, the various dependencies, high-level technical and business issues, deliverables and timelines. You will work with product management, business development and engineering to:

  • Clearly outline the goals and deliverables of each project
  • Help to define the functionality and specifications for the project
  • Outline and track the overall timelines and milestones
  • Identify the internal and external dependencies and ensure their timely delivery
  • Communicate project status
  • Key challenges of the role
  • Coordinating the activities of the project within a cross-functional team
  • Communicating with a matrix team in different geographical locations

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Effective and timely delivery of projects
  • Efficient tracking of milestones and project timelines
  • Identification and communicating resources deficiencies and other impediments to the project and effecting timely remedies
  • Regular communication of project status and key issues to the team and management.

Pre-requisite Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Proven expertise in managing consumer software projects.
  • 5+ years in project management
  • Extensive knowledge of software and hardware development methodologies and best practices.
  • Background in Internet software, services and operations with a good understanding of underlying internet, multimedia and wireless technologies
  • Familiar with Mac OS and Linux desktop environment
  • Experience in developing, deploying and managing large online sites and stores with online billing, provisioning and transactions.
  • Hands on experience in managing large software/hardware development projects including planning, budgeting and scheduling.
  • Expertise in project management tools and techniques.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional, geographically diverse teams.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering multiple concurrent projects
  • Expertise in developing and deploying web products across different countries and regions. Experience in internationalization and localization issues.

Desirable functional / technical skills:

  • Expertise in working with programming languages and tools

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, in English. Knowledge of other languages a plus
  • Self-motivated and passionate about Web and communications technologies and products
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness

Qualifications:

  • Formal education in Computer technologies
  • 5+ years experience in Internet software development and deployment
  • Special requirements (e.g. amount of travel)

Periodic travel to meet and interact with members of cross-functional teams.
