Supervisory Investigator (Law enforcement operations)

Job Description/Areas of Responsibility

Core Responsibilities:

• Assisting management with hiring, training, disciplinary and functional issues within the team

• Promoting service excellence through coaching, guidance and leadership to create a positive work environment

• Ensuring proper service levels for law enforcement inquiries

• Analyzing, reporting and forecasting of volumes to ensure proper measures in staff hiring

• Assisting management in team direction, structure and best practices

• Organizing and optimizing of workflows and processes

• Assisting in best practice sharing and procedures for global law enforcement investigations

• Acting as a representative in meetings with various law enforcement and governmental agencies on cooperative investigations

• Collecting and disseminating intelligence on current and future threats to (or posed by) customers, communications partners and connected infrastructure

• Provides insight/recommendations to senior staff on all aspects of Internet crime investigations and processes

• Able to represent Skype without supervision at outside events and meetings

• Develop/maintains relationships with other eBay business units

A Supervisory Investigator should:

• Have two or more years of working within a team on a supervisory level

• Have a strong working knowledge of Skype, eBay and PayPal, with experience in internet commerce or internet payment schemes

• Be able to understand and prepare complex written correspondence in English and be an excellent oral communicator

• Bring a high level of enthusiasm to the projects or investigations assigned

• Have a good sense for different cultures and a big interest in people

• Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility

• Have a strong sense of humor, sound judgment, and a high tolerance for ambiguity

• Persist in helping others (managers, peers, law enforcement) overcome obstacles to achieve results

• Use professional methods and the application of company policies/procedures to resolve a variety of issues

• Have an awareness of the company’s business, including current and possible future business trends and their potential impact on the company

• Develop contacts and coordinate efforts with people outside the department who are sources of information and support

• Proactively identify new opportunities to better serve the community and law enforcement

• Use skills as a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures

• Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways

• Independently and quickly revise plans to accommodate changes in work demands

Education and/or relevant experience:

• University degree and 5+ years of related experience

• Supplemental language skills, beyond English, are a “plus”
