Marketing Manager - Italy, Milano

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute marketing activities to increase local user acquisition, activation (free and paid) and retention, which may include:

Internet Marketing:

  • Working with the central IM team to drive local business objectives

  • Optimize search and partner marketing relationships through rigorous analysis of advertising campaign performance, as well as identification, application and communication of best practices

  • Managing day-to-day relationships with selected marketing partners with a keen focus on maximizing user acquisition and revenue to Skype

Onsite and Direct Marketing:

  • Leading research and insights on select segments of local users and their Skype experience

  • Developing and executing marketing campaigns via onsite and direct marketing channels targeted at acquiring and activating certain segments of users, and increasing their activity levels

  • Executing onsite promotions, including all programming and tracking of creative, and working with external agencies on creative development

  • Creating and maintaining recurring and ad hoc email comms to targeted Users

  • Enhancing onsite web and buying experience, education, help, blogs and forums

  • Measuring and reporting on the efficacy of marketing efforts

  • Leading key ad hoc projects to drive increased acquisition and activation among target segments

PR/Communications:

  • Working with local agency to define and optimize local planning, messaging and media outreach

  • Identifying and supporting activities with local opinion formers, trade and consumer events

  • Interacting with local Skype community on forums, blogs etc

  • Evangelizing local user stories

Supporting Activities:

  • Assisting the broader local team in achieving team goals

  • Playing an active role in global coordination and best practice sharing for Skype marketing efforts

Requirements

  • Full fluency in English and the local language (written and oral)

  • Experience with copywriting, creative and brand development

  • Minimum of five-six years experience in a high-performance business environment

  • Background at a top-tier marketing organization, direct marketing agency, internet company or consultancy strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Proven ability to take action and achieve results against targeted metrics

  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to present insights and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner

  • Skill and confidence in dealing with people at all levels of the organization

  • Energetic self-starter, with a desire to work in a results oriented, fast growth environment

  • Passion for Skype, its community and mission

Special requirements:

  • Reasonable amount of travel (not more than 20% of time, mainly within the EC)

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
