Product Marketing Manager

General Job Description

To support its rapid growth, Skype is now seeking a Product Marketing Manager to join the Product Marketing team based in London. The Skype Product Marketing team is responsible for the development and launch of Skype products and will work on launching new products and driving awareness, trial and adoption of existing products such as our flagship Windows and Mac clients, paid for products like SkypeOut and SkypeIn and also our latest and greatest new inventions such as Skypecasts.

The individual will be part of a small dynamic team focused on delighting Skype users and growing the Skype user base by successfully launching and constantly improving Skype products. You will work as part of the Product Marketing team to develop and launch new products and to increase awareness and usage of key existing products.

The individual will be defining go to market plans for new product launches and creating inventive marketing campaigns to drive awareness and usage of existing products with a particular emphasis on driving revenues from these products.

General Responsibilities

  • Work with all core marketing functions, product teams, web team and dedicated creative agency to launch, promote and drive usage of key products.

  • Define and implement product marketing plans across all channels including PR, online, direct marketing, partners, SEO and online marketing, customer services, blogs, events and below the line marketing.

  • Define marketing plan, strategy, positioning, target market and key messages for new products launches.

  • Manage all launch activities for new product releases and other product marketing efforts.

  • Brief other members of the marketing team and creative agencies on new product launches to get them involved and committed to delivery of the launch.

  • Work with product managers to define new product features and go to market plans.

  • Ability to understand complex technical products and develop clear, concise benefits, value proposition and positioning to communicate to users to build awareness and encourage trial and adoption.

  • Brief local marketing teams and ensure local support and promotion of key products.

  • Define & deliver against Key Performance indicators for trial, adoption, usage and revenues of key products.

  • Track and report on the success of product launches and other product marketing campaigns.

  • Gather feedback and analyse market research and tracking information to evaluate the success of products and help drive new feature development.

Pre-requisite Knowledge, skills and experience

  • 5 years product marketing experience required.

  • Self starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude.

  • Project management skills, including organizing, tracking, reporting and record keeping.

  • Creative thinker with new, inventive marketing ideas.

  • Be able to change priorities rapidly and work under pressure.

  • Intelligent and articulate.

  • Detail-oriented and organized.

  • Experience of managing creative agencies essential.

  • Through the line marketing experience essential.

Qualifications:

  • Marketing training required.

  • Graduate degree helpful but not required.
