The Brief
The Skype Developer Program is responsible for helping 3rd party ISV’s and developers integrate with Skype API’s, get certified and deploy their solutions. A key measure of success is high quality, exciting Extras for Skype.
Within the team the DevZone Editor is tasked with ensuring that developers get the content, resource and material they need from SDP and Skype to help them understand, integrate and deploy applications and solutions. Your job is to hunt for, publish and communicate great content whilst managing the communications engine.

Key Responsibilities:
DevZone Editor and Infrastructure (50%)
- Content roadmap & publishing: You will maintain a clear roadmap of content for DevZone, so that SDP are organised. Good content is critical for developers, and you should be constantly hunting for whitepapers, example code, educational material within SDP, and across Skype – even with partners. Content updates should be planned in synch with other SDP and Skype product, platform and partner activities.
- DevZone infrastructure and evolution: You will work closely with counterparts in Engineering to ensure that DevZone remains stable and usable. In addition you are expected to work closely with SDP members and partners to evolve DevZone so that it looks great, has good usability and remains dynamic.
- Best practise: Be constantly on the look-out for initiatives from other developer web sites (MSDN, Orange Partner, Symbian DevNet etc) that Skype DevZone could implement also.
- Reporting and Proposals: Provide regular information on DevZone usage and consistency, so SDP are well informed on who, who and what developers are using.
Developer Newsletter (25%)
- Content Editing: Be constantly hunting for great new content for the newsletter from across Skype and with partners. Newsletter content should drive traffic to DevZone and be tied in with major product and platform updates.
- Creation & Distribution: Working closely within SDP and other stakeholders you will maintain a roadmap of future newsletters. In addition (and with input) you will manage the creation and distribution of of a monthly newsletter.
- Reporting and escalation: Provide regular updates on newsletter success, feedback and ideas for improvement.
Education and Promotion Materials (25%)
- You will work directly with the SDP Director to identify, scope and create technical mini-booklets, promotional brochures and materials for developers.
Desirable functional / technical skills:
- Experience of managing a website and newsletter, or e-zine within a very technical context
- Strong understanding of web technologies and web development tools
- Good technical communication skills, ability to understand code
Personal attributes / competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to impress, influence and listen with developers and Skype engineers
- An eye for style: ability to make DevZone and newsletter look great. Content is king, but Skype projects should have a sense of flair and be eye catching.
- Sense of urgency: a doer mentality
- Self motivated and self disciplined. Ability to work with geographically disparate team whilst being highly communicative and on target
Qualifications:
- Web development, web infrastructure and e-zine/newsletter experience.
Duration/Other:
- Permanent
- Tallinn based. Occasional travel to London
