The Brief
The Manager - Technical Accounting will actively lead consulting with Skype and PayPal Business Unit on technical accounting and reporting matters to ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and eBay Group Accounting Policies, and work to structure transactions to achieve the operating goals of Skype and PayPal internationally. The position will be based in Luxembourg.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical accounting expertise throughout the organization.
- Consult with business on a regular basis to ensure awareness of transactions, M&A and changes that have a potential accounting impact.
- Assist in structuring transactions to maximize operating and accounting goals.
- Assess issues, impact of technical accounting matters and manage to conclusions with appropriate inclusion of external auditors and business owners.
- Assess implications of new accounting standards on accounting organization and work on associated projects to implement.
- Develop and present training to the business owners.
- Assist with team projects and initiatives amongst team and wider finance organization within eBay Group.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Chartered Accountant required, US CPA preferred
- Working knowledge of IFRS
- Solid experience with Big Four public accounting firm preferred
- Work experience in the US and/or with US public companies preferred
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Familiarity with technology, telecommunications and financial services industries
- Proactive and creative approach, strong problem resolution skills with ability to research and simplify complex situations
- Demonstrated ability to build relationship and work effectively cross functionally and with remote team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication along with superior presentation skills mandatory
- Up to 30% international travel
- Good sense of humor and ability to create and maintain a balanced, positive work environment
