Skype Audio & Video Research Team is looking for a skilled individual to take part in our signal processing research aimed at enhanced quality of experience in Skype’s unique platform and network for real-time IP video communication.
As a member of the research team you will be engaged at the forefront of Skype’s innovation of breakthrough solutions to real-time IP video communication. You will be expected to play an active role in the generation, development, and verification of new concepts and methods for video processing.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the team in an open research environment.
* Productively inject and co-develop team ideas and visions towards new signal processing algorithms for video transmission and its interdependence with the transmission of audio and other real-time media as well as signaling.
* Work towards proof-of-concept in a structured and thorough manner.
* Document and communicate obtained results.
* Provide high-quality innovation disclosures towards patent filings.
* Work closely with software and product development engineers in the implementation of the resulting algorithms into product.
Pre-requisite knowledge, skills and experience:
* Deep knowledge of the research frontier in video processing for real-time IP communication.
* Research experience at the level of PhD or equivalent.
* Excellent skills in technical communication and teamwork.
* Command of programming languages including Matlab, C, and C++.
* Command of English.
