Skype Audio/Video development and Quality Assurance team are searching for an extension to their talented team. We are developing new break-through technology in the Voice/Video IP area and need to make sure that the new implemented solutions get the needed attention to ensure the overall high quality of the Skype product. Objective video quality measurement is one of the key areas to automate QA on video level and enable to benchmark our video library on frequent iterations.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with software developers, technical writers, customer support and other departments to improve product quality.
* Design, execute and document test cases for Skype video stack on multiple desktop platforms (Windows, Mac,...).
* Build up, maintain and run a half automated test environment for hardware and software compatibility tests.
* Build objective video quality assestment system (research and implementation)
Pre-requisite knowledge, skills and experience:
* Excellent trouble-shooting skills
* Knowledge of video processing and streaming
* Good knowledge of desktop operating environments
* Knowledge about disk boot images, disk partitions, graphic cards, web cams etc.
* You are tech-savy yet can set yourself in end user's position
* You are able to learn and interested in learning new technologies
Big plus if you have:
* Knowledge of DirectShow APIs and/or Quicktime
* C/C++, Python
* Experience using at least one shell environment or script language to automate your tasks
* BS degree in CS/EE or equivalent

* Ability to prioritize multiple and diverse tasks expected
* Good technical, analytical and communication skills
* Very good command of English
* A 'can-do' attitude and a serious desire to have an impact on changing the way people communicate
* You don't tolerate mistakes and errors, you're pedant in a positive way
* Manage your own time and tasks efficiently so that you meet the deadlines
* Knowledge of QA and testing methodology and processes
* Perl, Python, Unit and test automation experience is a big plus
* Experience with a defect tracking system (e.g. Bugzilla)
