Overview:
The individual will contribute to the strategic thinking of Skype's business in EMEA, which is Skype's largest region in terms of markets (120+) and revenues as well as for the Mobile Business Unit which has the potential to make Mobile a significant access point to complement desktop.
Specifically, the individual will need to work across the EMEA and Mobile Business Units under the guidance of the GM to ensure that there is a robust planning process in place to deliver on the company's three year strategic plan and to ensure that the appropriate presentations and documents are prepared to support both areas. Additionally, it will be important for the individual to make significant contributions around the strategic focus and vision within EMEA as well as Mobile.
A critical part of the role will be to provide leadership within the EMEA team and Mobile Business Units on business planning and to work closely with the Consumer and Skype for Business teams. The individual will also need to engage with and leverage support from Finance, HR, Technologies, Strategy, Communications, and Legal and Government Relations.
Key metrics will include growth in new users, paid conversions, reduction in customer churn, brand awareness, and brand consideration. Lastly, the individual will have a key role on the budgeting and managing for the EMEA and Mobile P&L's.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide input on an EMEA and Mobile vision and strategy around marketing, sales, PR, and brand in line with the overall company strategy.
Develop and manage a business planning process across EMEA and Mobile to ensure that as the business grows, there are robust processes and communications in place to ensure that that the two areas are providing the necessary information that the business requires
Be responsible for driving the preparation and subsequent management of the EMEA and Mobile budgets
Work closely with Consumer, Mobile, and Skype for Business business units to plan for the introduction of new products and help prioritise future development for the company roadmap
Be a key interface with the various support areas of the business including Finance, Legal, Technologies, and Customer Support
Specific Skills and Profile Needed:
Have strong experience in business planning for an operational area/business unit
Have a global perspective and experience in working across multiple markets
Have relevant strategic planning experience to be able to prepare strategy documents and frameworks
Experience in managing P&Ls
Reflect a good balance between entrepreneurial/start-up experience as well as working in larger, more structured environments
From an industry perspective, have experience of a fast growth, global consumer technology environment
Ability to move between big picture, strategic thinking and more tactical details of the business; be a good problem solver
Have good communication skills with the ability to bring people with him/her from a variety of functional areas
Be culturally sensitive and have experience in working across a variety of countries and regions
Demonstrate an ability to work in a matrix environment both in terms of being managed in one as well as managing teams in a matrix orientation
