Working within the Mobile Engineering Unit you will be responsible for overall project coordination and programme management of various projects that needs to be delivered to the customer. You will own the project plan for development and delivery of Skype software. This role will require a good understanding of the goals for each project, the design issues, the various dependencies, high-level technical and business issues, deliverables and timelines. You will work with product management, business development and engineering teams to carry out the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the overall schedule, budget and deliverables for E2E project delivery working closely with the product manager's, the customer and Skype engineering teams.
- Drive the overall project from initiation through delivery, ensuring completion on schedule, within budget constraints and in accordance with the business and customer specification.
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, issues, critical path activities and changes.
- Co-ordinate and synchronise all the individual components and work-streams to ensure alignment with the over-arching project schedule, requirements/objectives and direction.
- Report on the overall project status to the product team and key stakeholders, highlighting and escalating issues and risks appropriate.
- To interface with cross functional teams on all matters related to the program
- Responsibilities will also include:
- Managing beta programs and conducting post project analysis.
- Managing all aspects of maintenance releases.
- Managing contract deliverables in conjunction with BD and legal.
- In smaller projects, may act as engineering project manager as well as partner project manager - in this case, they would manage engineering resources (either internal or external) directly in order to ensure timely delivery.
Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Excellent project management skills with a successful record of managing large projects involving cross functional, geographically diverse teams.
- Experience in managing and delivering multiple projects to large Mobile Network Operators
- Direct and relevant experience within the mobile industry - either at a mobile operator, within a mobile device manufacturer or mobile applications developer.
- Experience in software development projects
- A background in Mobile and Telecommunication software Products or services
- Familiarity with mobile eco-systems of hardware, software solutions and platforms
- Superior project management skills, attention to detail and business judgment
- Know-how of different 802.11 standards, cellular networks, voice processing and power management is a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (English is a must, other languages a plus)
- Experience working with remote development teams
