Skype development and Quality Engineering team are searching for an extension to their talented team. We are developing new break-through technology in the Voice/Video IP area and need to make sure that the new implemented solutions get the needed attention to ensure the overall high quality of the Skype product. Therefore intelligent analysis of our current product and solid benchmarking against other existing product offerings is of very high importance to Skype.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with software developers, quality engineering, technical writers, customer support and other departments to improve product quality.
* Organize formal tests to research user preferences.
* Evaluate Skype products and prototypes against similar audio/video ip software offerings on the market.
Pre-requisite interests, skills, knowledge, and experience
* An interest in inquisitive and comparative study and knowledge building of all major existing and future Audio/Video communication offerings on the market
* Excellent analytic skills from a tech-savvy yet user centered perspective
* Good Knowledge of IP real-time communications, associated protocols, and quality determining parameters.
* Good knowledge of desktop operating environments
* Experience with network emulation
* Experience with CPU utilization monitoring and manipulation
* Experience with Audio and Video test environments
Big plus if you have:
* Knowledge of DirectShow and DirectSound
* C/C++ and Python
* Experience using at least one shell environment or script language to automate your tasks
* BS degree in CS/EE or equivalent
Requirements that apply to all Quality Assurance positions:
* Ability to prioritize multiple and diverse tasks expected
* Good technical, analytical and communication skills
* Very good command of English
* A 'can-do' attitude and a serious desire to have an impact on changing the way people communicate
* You don't tolerate mistakes and errors, you're pedant in a positive way
* Manage your own time and tasks efficiently so that you meet the deadlines
* Knowledge of QA and testing methodology and processes
* Perl, Python, Unix and test automation experience is a big plus
* Experience with a defect tracking system (e.g. Bugzilla)
