Advice for students
Each week we get hundreds of applications for internships. There are good news and bad news for all who apply. The bad news is:
- In General - Skype doesn’t have an internship program in place. This means that you would have to do real work, largely based on your own skills not our guidance and mentoring. It helps if you study IT or communications or have been an amateur hacker since the first Ataris came out.
- Internship positions are available usually in Tallinn. If you don't live here yet, you'd have to move here for the internship.
- We don't usually accept applications for less than 6 months.
If you're still reading, here are the good news:
- As these are real tasks you'll be working on, you'll learn more than you can imagine
- Tallinn is actually a quite fun place. We've had interns from all over the world, from Sweden to Chile and almost all of them have liked both Skype and Estonia.
If you want to apply for an internship, find a suitable post from Current vacancies and send in your application as you would for a permanent job, just add that it is an internship you are looking for. Alternatively, you can check with student association AIESEC. We keep them informed on all internship opportunities, for example we are almost always looking for customer support specialists with specific native speaker skills.
